Story

Samantha Aarons is an archeologist, currently in Israel. She is part of an expedition to find treasures at sites listed in The Copper Scrolls. These treasures are said to be the hidden gold and silver from the Second Temple, hidden by the Jews in ancient times after the destruction of the Temple. Samantha is called in to help with her knowledge of ancient biblical texts.

Location/Setting

Archeological dig in the 1950’s of an underground structure, found by following clues revealed in The Copper Scrolls. It is near Jericho, not far from the Jordan River and the border between Jordan and Israel. This is also not a state/country sanctioned dig. This is a time of political unrest in the Middle East with the establishment of Israel and England’s departure from the area.

The underground structure has clean stone walls, statues, scrolls, books and other archeological finds, but also has a huge chasm separating the main area from a smaller area that no one has been able to get across. So far, no one has seen the bottom of the chasm as it is too far down for lights to reach and rope hasn’t been long enough to get down there. This space has been carefully carved and made and has not been accessed for thousands of years - in fact, this archeological dig is probably the first people to enter the space since it was sealed. There is sand on the floor and some dust - no spider webs. There is no light except for torches, lanterns and flashlights. According to The Copper Scrolls, there is silver treasure hidden here, but it has not been found.

Mission Walkthrough

    1. Samantha Voice Over: “There has to be something more hidden in here… I better talk to Seb and see if he’s found anything.”

  1. IGC: Player looks around, takes in area before seeing Seb Harari standing at a table looking over some papers and books

  1. Start gameplay: Player can walk around, but won’t be able to interact with anything till they talk to Seb. IGC event triggered when player talks to Seb

  1. IGC: Speak to Seb.

    1. Seb: “Ah, Samantha… It’s frustrating. The Copper Scroll said this place had a treasure of silver, but we’ve looked all over and found nothing.”

    2. Samantha: “There must be clues in here somewhere.”

    3. Seb: “You can try the scroll room again. Maybe fresh eyes will find something.”

  1. Gameplay: Player can walk around, but won’t be able to interact with anything until they go to the scroll room. Player can look around at scrolls - will find Levi’s Scroll which will have The Umrim VeTumin (the priest of the Temple’s breastplate).

    1. Scroll talks about the Twelve Tribes - That the children Jacob made up the tribes and the tribes were scattered, becoming the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel

    2. There were 4 Tribes that remained

  1. Gameplay: Player can walk around and start interacting with space. There is a large mosaic on the floor depicting a large main vine growing on a grid shaped arbor with a bunch of grapes right at the end of the stairs leading down into the underground structure. On the South side is the scroll room and tables from the archeological dig with papers, and tools. Along the North side is a mosaic on the wall picturing Jerusalem and important cities and a side room where there are ceramic vases and a few other items. To the West is a huge statue of lion and then stairs going down into a large space with tiles on the floor showing The Twelve Tribes in a circle - on the North wall and South wall are stones sticking out which also have signs of the Twelve Tribes. Players can press on them but nothing will happen if they are the wrong stones or in the wrong order. To the West is also a huge chasm. A rope hangs over the side but barely lights the spikes at the bottom. Across the chasm is a set of double doors set in a large archway. (This is where the silver scroll is kept).

    1. The Lion Statue: The Lion of Judah

    2. The Medallion: The Wolf of Benjamin

    3. The Mosaic: The City of Shechem of Simeon - a moon is in the sky instead of a sun.

    4. The Twelve Tribes are shown in the circle in the floor - The Moon is set over the eldest son of Jacob: Reuben. Clockwise, is Simeon, Judah, Levi, etc till Daniel - giving the order of the stones to be pressed

  1. Gameplay: Player presses the stones in the North and South wall. If they are the wrong stones or the wrong order, nothing will happen. If they press Simeon’s stone first, the stone pillar will rise in the chasm into place. If player attempts to cross chasm without all the stones pressed, the stone pillars will collapse - killing the player. In-game event triggered when player presses correct stone in order - stone pillar rising in the chasm.

  1. In Game Event: Stone Pillars rise, creating bridge across the chasm

    1. Simeon - Stone Pillar 1 - set of three rise together

    2. Judah -  Stone Pillar 2 - set of two rise together

    3. Levi - Stone Pillar 3 - set of two rise together

    4. Benjamin - Stone Pillar 4 - set of two rise together

  1. Mini-Game: Player must cross the the stone pillars in the correct order or they will collapse, killing the player on spikes. Clue of correct path found in mosaic near entrance. Death triggered when player steps on wrong pillar

  1. Gameplay: Player gets across chasm and moves to open them. IGC event triggered when player moves near doors

  1. IGC: Seb joins player before doors as they open, revealing a glimmering silver scroll case set on a pedestal.

  1. End of Gameplay: Completed Mission.
