Story
Epiales, God of Nightmares has captured all the Dream Sprites that are responsible for giving humans their dreams. He plans to turn them all into nightmares to plague mankind and gain power. You are Kid Morpheus traveling through the realm of Dreams on a quest to save Dream Sprites and battle Epiales’ Daemons. As you save more Dream Sprites, you’ll not only be saving humanity, you will eventually earn your wings to be worthy to live among the gods on Mount Olympus.
Story Progression
The game begins with a short introduction animation. Dream Sprites are visiting humans and delivering sweet dreams. Daemons appear, and begin snatching the Sprites before placing them in cages under the order of the god of Nightmares, Epiales. Zeus appears before you and tells you that as Morpheus, god of Dreams, it is your duty to free all the Dream Sprites before humanity, lacking dreams at night, will slowly lose their sanity and will cease worshipping any god, but Epiales. As a young god, you don’t have much power, except to conjure small puffs of dreams to help you traverse the dreamscape.
A tutorial begins, allowing the player to learn their basic powers of creating dream clouds and throwing their yo-yo which serves as a weapon to destroy Daemons. There will be basic puzzles to solve to free the Dream Sprites from cages. The first ten levels are a relatively easy set, teaching the player their basic skills. Then players move on to the next dream level which will introduce new skills and harder puzzles to solve and more dangers. This continues till the ultimate boss battle with Epiales. Once he is defeated, the player will gain their wings and be invited to join the other gods on Mount Olympus, having saved humanity.
Gameplay
KID MORPHEUS is a 2D platform game for pc, tablet/smartphone with cute, lush visuals and graphics that will keep players engaged. The player travels through the realm of Dreams, questing for Dream Sprites to free.
Players will be challenged by moving across their platform levels by creating new platforms using their own imagination, solving fun puzzles and battling Daemons.
As he levels up, freeing Dream Sprites, the player will gain new weapons and new powers, coming into his own as the God of Dreams.
Players start with the power to ‘dream’ a small platform they can use to jump up to platforms they can’t reach on a single jump. They will also have a yo-yo weapon they can use in melee with Daemons set throughout the levels, guarding the pathways to the doors leading to the next levels.
This will create a fun environment and hours of gameplay for the player as they explore beautiful dream realms and find new puzzles to solve with each level they beat.
Players can spend points gained with Dream Sprite rescues to gain new powers or new weapons that will help them move through the levels. The weapons can cause more damage, or they can get a ‘free pass’ or clues on puzzles.
In this way, players have more control over their play experience in a way other platform games don’t offer as they travel through a magical world, trying to defeat Epiales and save humanity from insanity.

Game Mechanics
There will a few Game Mechanics involved in Kid Morpheus. There will be puzzle solving, which will range from object find to match - 3 games. The players will also have some melee and ranged weapon combat between themselves and the Daemons/enemies. The key mechanic is the ‘dream cloud’ that players can use to traverse areas of the level that they cannot walk to or jump to. As they level up, these created platforms will also be able to float up and down and diagonally, allowing the player to use some strategy in getting around the board.
Items
Players will gain points as they defeat enemies and levels and will be able to use these points at different places in the game. They can trade in these points for ranged or melee weapons, use them to either get a clue for a puzzle or to quick solve, or to upgrade the look of their player.
Progression and challenge
As the levels progress, the level challenges will become more difficult. It will also shift the difficulty from either the enemies and how hard they are to kill or how many there are, or the enemy’s abilities (teleportation, fireballs, etc), to the challenge of the level itself. After each set of levels, the player will ‘upgrade’ and more abilities, weapons etc, will become available to them. Since they may not trade in points for certain things, like ‘quick solving’ a puzzle, they may find themselves in challenging situations to get out of.
Losing
Losing conditions equals death of the player.
-
Death by enemies
-
Death by level trap
Music and Sound
Music overall will be dreamlike and alternative, to reflect the Dreamscape the players are traveling within. Each area of the Dreamscape will have between 10 - 15 levels with each area having its own general theme, like Winter, Islands, Forest, etc. Each area will have a theme song. This music will be set to be something that can loop as players work in a level area, so it won’t be annoying or intrusive over a long period of time.
Sounds of battle will be fairly standard with a few ‘cute’ versions to keep with the mood and style.
